Round table mini league Match Report 27/01/07

The team consisted of Osian Thomas, Sam Treharne-Jones, Harry Holmes, George Hathaway, William Morris, Ifan Rees, Oscar Davies and Jonathan De Court.

The first match was against Johnstown and following a tight game, a solo effort by Oscar Davies resulted in Llandeilo winning 1-0.

The second match was against Drefach B. Early on it was fairly even stuff with an early effort by George narrowly missing and a good save made by Harry. Jonathan opened the scoring for Llandeilo followed by a second goal scored by George. Final score was 2-1 to Llandeilo.

The third match was against Carmarthen which was another tight game. Harry had a shot that went just wide and Oscar made a last ditch tackle to prevent a shot on goal. Jonathan made a good save but the final score was 1-0 to Carmarthen.

The final match against Peniel saw Llandeilo win 3-1. First blood went to George and the second goal was yet another long range effort, by Harry. Peniel pulled one back to make it 2-1 but George finished things off within a goal from a corner.

Round Table mini league Match Report 13/01/07

The team consisted of Brychan Williams, Sam Treharne-Jones, William Morris, Harry Holmes, Osian Thomas, George Hathaway and, after giving the coach a bit of a scare, Oscar Davies.

The first match was against Drefach. Things started brightly and the bustling Brychan out muscled the Drefach defence, cut in from the right and scored from close range. Shortly after he scored again, this time from the edge of the box. Harry followed up with a goal soon after that. It was rapidly becoming apparent that `deilo were too strong for Drefach and goal followed steadily from Brychan again then two from George, the second following a nice through ball from Sam. George scored again and then Brychan, the new Gary Linekar, scored twice more. Final score 9-0.

The second match was against the Tywi Bulls (previous score 1-0 to Bulls). The team were clearly full of confidence following the first game but it soon became apparent that they were up against much stiffer opposition. An early chance by Tywi Bulls was well cleared off the line by Oscar Davies. The pressure was all Bulls and they scored shortly after. Two more goals to the Bulls followed taking it to to 3-0 with few chances going `deilo’s way. George made a good save after Bulls created a 4-1 overlap but another shot crept over the line to make it 4-0. Llandeilo battled to the end but the final score was 5-0.

The third and final match was against Banc B (previous result 1-1). Early on Brychan tried an ambitious volley following a pass from George but didn’t hit the target. Llandeilo scored first following a lovely long range shot nonchalantly fired into the top corner by Harry Holmes. A shot Stephen Gerrard would have been proud of. Banc B evened things up with a through ball that split the defence to find their lone striker. More than a whiff of off side (if we had been playing it of course!). This proved to be their tactic and they scored two more. George pulled one back but a touch of tiredness crept in and in pushing forward Llandeilo left the back door open for the lone Banc striker to score again. Final score was 5-3 to Banc B.

Overall, a mixed bag of results but a good effort on the part of Llandeilo. Hopefully, Cae William will have dried out sufficiently for training to resume after half term to help gain revenge over Banc.

Carmarthenshire mini league Match Report 9/12/06

The team made a good start on their first outing of the 2006/07 season to the Carmarthenshire mini league on the astroturf at Johnstown on Dec 9th.

The team comprised of Brychan Williams, Samuel Treharne Jones, Ifan Rees, William Morris, Johnathan De Court, Harry Holmes, Cory Baldwin, Daniel Davies and Aiden Jones.

The first match was against Bulls B. Not surprisingly, as this was their first match on astroturf for some time and their first time playing together as a team, it took a while for them to get used to things. Things were coming together when, despite some stout defending, they conceded a goal. The final score was 1-0.

Having got used to things a bit they pressed hard in the second match and were rewarded by scoring two goals. Samuel Treharne Jones scored first and was followed soon after by Harry Holmes The final score against Johnstown was 2-0.

The third and final match saw them play Banc B. Despite a number of early chances they narrowly failed to find the back of the net and against the run of play, Banc B scored. It looked like they would lose the game but a late goal by Daniel Davies levelled things at 1-1.

The team played well and had a great time and did very well.

The Mini league is arranged so that the stronger, more experienced teams play in the first hour from 10.00-11.00 and the less experienced teams play in the second hour from 11.00-12.00.

We are hoping that after a few games we will be able to progress to the first hour.

The league starts again in the New Year. We’ll be speaking to you nearer the time to make arrangements for the next mini league.
