TEIGROD DO THE DOUBLE
It was a cold and blustery Saturday morning at Rice Road, and it wasn’t for the faint hearted supporter. Some extensive warm ups were required by both teams. The ref blew for the start of the game and it was the Teigrod who took full advantage of their chances with two great individual goals. With the first goal of his hat trick was from Tommy Morgan, his pace left the Ammanford defence in tatters, followed shortly after was Cai Davies with another great goal, shooting just inside the eighteen yard box and into the bottom left hand corner.
The Teigrod were now moving the ball with confidence and looked certain to further their lead but that wasn’t to be and it was Ammanford who got the next brace of goals. With some good team play and individual skill this gave Ammanford a new lease of life and they continued to push forward. With the new growing confidence of Teigrods defence and goal keeper they were the only two goals Ammanford were to score on this cold morning.
A few tactical changes were made at half time by the Teigrod coaches and this gave more strength in midfield. Teigrod now upped the tempo of the game, creating more space in midfield allowing Sam, Rhun and Cai to distribute defence splitting passes for Tommy, Shaun and Lewis to attempt on goal. Lewis managed to score but was deemed by the referee to be offside. From time to time Ammanford threatened the Teigrod goal but Luke Heath proved it wasn’t to be. It was nice to see Charlie and Jack dominating the centre of defence and a mention to Rhydian Thomas and Tommy Priestland who also did a good job in their defensive roll.
The Teigrod continued to force Ammanford back and another two goals were scored by the energetic Tommy Morgan who completed a great hat trick and Teigrods fourth goal of the day. There was now breathing space between the two teams and with ten minutes to go Teigrod made their first substitution Jack Poulson who was another added strength to the midfield, and that is how it remained to the end of the game.
This was a very good game of football with some great individual skills from both teams. They have to meet again in the cup and for the neutral supporter it promises to be a good game of football. Thanks to Cai Howes for being one of the subs.
Man of the Match voted for by the players was Tommy Morgan (for his blistering pace).
Thanks to the travelling supporters. Next game away to Loughor.
October 25th, Llanelli Radicals 0 - 2 Teigrod
TEIGROD FLYING HIGH
Teigrod are still top of the U12’s and another fine display by all.
A few changes were made to the team because of illness and weekend breaks, but the Teigrod adapted well to changes and warmed to the challenge of Llan Rads away this week. Both teams started very well and had their chances but it should have been the Teigrod who went into half time the better but Llan Rads held it at 0 – 0.
A few words of encouragement at half time by the coaches and as the second half got underway Teigrod upped the tempo and the midfield started to take control. Some good formation play by Rhun, Sam and Tommy Morgan, who was starting only his second game of the season. Also coming in on the right wing was Shaun Jones who is growing more in confidence and involved in some nice passing football.
Teigrod were now increasing the pressure on Llan Rads and with forty five minutes gone Tommy Morgan received a nice pass from the right wing and hammered the ball into the roof of the net. At last the deadlock had been broken and there was jubilation from his team mates.
The Teigrod were now hungry for more and continued to force Llan Rads to defend with shots from Lewis Jones and Tommy Priestland. With ten minutes to go Shaun Jones scored from the most acute of angles across the goal and put the Teigrod 2 – 0 up. Teigrod made two substitutions, Jack Poulson and Nathan Davies who both contributed to the Teigrod result.
A special mention to the defence Huw, Jack, Iago and Rhydian who had dropped back from right midfield to central defence in place for Charlie. The Teigrods’ keeper Luke Heath continues to improve and is becoming difficult to beat and with the defence in front of him Teigrod are becoming a difficult team to break down, hope it continues. You are all working very hard and fully deserved your rewards! Well done again!
Man of the match was split today and voted by the players were Huw Schofield and Shaun Jones.
Thanks to all the supporters.
Next weeks game away to Ammanford, meet at Tregib School 9.30 am
October 18th, Teigrod 5 - 1 Llanelli Radicals
TIGERS TOP THE TABLE
It was a beautiful sunny autumn morning with the sun definitely shining down on the Teigrods. As they did against Camford last week the Teigrods came out accepting nothing less than a victory. Straight from the kick off Teigrod were on the attack with some good footwork from Tommy Priestland creating Teigrod’s first goal, scored by Lewis Jones. You could see the delight from the player’s smiles. Was this going to be their day? Yes, I think it was, in the fifteenth minute after some great midfield work by Sam, Cai and Rhun, gave Rhydian his chance down the right to put a great cross in, only for a Llan Rads player to handle the ball in the penalty area giving Teigrod a penalty. Lewis Jones stepped up to take the penalty and accurately placed the ball in the left hand corner of the goal leaving the keeper no chance. Teigrods were now in control and 2 0 up.
On the twenty fifth minute Tommy scored his first and Teigrods third and that remained the score up until half time.
Very little words needed to be spoken by the coaches during half time, with the last word left to the Captain Cai Davies before the second half started.
It took until the fortieth minute with some brave defending from Charlie and Huw, but wasn’t quite enough to stop Llanelli getting a consolation goal with a deflection off a Teigrod defender which looped over Luke Heath’s head and into Teigrods goal.
At this point Teigrod must have been wondering whether the Burry Port game had come back to haunt them, but it wasn’t to be. Five minutes later, the Teigrods, with some exceptional formational play struck again with a lovely movement and ball passing down the right wing. Lewis Jones played and inch perfect pass to Sam Rhys who calmly slotted the ball into the left hand corner of the net. Tedigrod were now 4 1 up.
Teigrod then substituted Huw Schofield and Iago Dafydd for Scott Jenkins and Jack Poulson who both contributed to Teigrods fifth goal, nicely put away by Captain Cai Davies. This brought a great end to Teigrods day and put them top of the table on goal difference. This is an exciting young group of children, playing some good team football and rising to the challenge. I’m sure these young lads will continue to progress and to do well throughout the rest of the season. Well done to our keeper Luke, who was a tower of strength in goal today. Keep it up! WELL DONE TO ALL THE SQUAD!!
Man of the match : Lewis Jones (2 very well taken goals)
Thanks to all the supporters. Next game away to Llan Rads. Meet 9.20 am Tregib Tennis Courts.
October 11th, Camford Sports 1 - 5 Teigrod
TEIGRODS TRIUMPH
After last Saturdays rest young Teigrods were hungry for a win, which they certainly did in style.
The game started off at a good pace with some strong defensive heading by Jack and Charlie, and it didn’t take long before the Teigrods settled in with their first goal coming from a great run down the left wing from Rhydian Thomas and cutting inside and unleashing a lovely shot which the keeper stood no chance of stopping.
In the twentieth minute Teigrods second goal came from some good midfield play by Sam Rees, Cai Davies and Rhun Jones spreading the ball from wing to wing. Spurred on by their actions Shaun and Rhydian took on the defenders, leaving Lewis Jones to score a nicely directed second goal.Teigrods were now in control of the game and were pushing for a third. They didn’t have to wait too long before Rhydian Thomas scored his second and Teigrods third from a tight angle beating the keeper at his near post. Shortly after the ref blew for half time.
Teigrods came out in the second half as they had finished the first with fire in their bellies. Teigrod defence, (Iago, Charlie, Jack and Huw), keep growing in confidence as is Luke Heath with his great positioning and goal kicking. With this confidence booming it was shortly after Teigrods fourth goal, possibly a contender for Goal of the Season, was scored by Jack McGready a 35 yard shot that looped over the goal keeper. Teigrods still hungered for more. If we thought Jacks goal was a contender for goal of the season then this next one was just the icing on the cake. With a beautiful full volley which was unstoppable as it catapulted past the keeper into the bottom right hand corner of the net. Huw Schofield grinned like a Cheshire cat, as his team mates congratulated him.
Camford had made several changes by this time and from time to time they did cause Teigrod the odd problem and inevitably a penalty was given. On the first attempt at the penalty Luke Heath made a great save but the ref blew and the penalty had to be taken again. We weren’t so lucky this time and Camford managed to get one past us. With ten minutes left to play Teigrod brought on their substitute Nathan Davies who helped the team maintain the upper hand in the closing minutes of the game before the ref blew the final whistle.
Well done Teigrod! Another outstanding display lets keep it up!!!!!
Man of the match: Rhydian Thomas
Thanks to all the supporters. Next weeks game is at home against Llan Rads.
September 27th, Burry Port 6 - 2 Teigrod
TEIGROD LET IT SLIP
It should have been over and done with by the end of the first half for the Teigrod, but with some brave defending by Burry Port they kept it to one goal. What a contender for goal of the season by Rhun Jones, after some good work down the left side from Iago to Tommy and then Sam resulted in Rhun receiving the ball, and say no more, the next place it went was in the back of the net, a delightful chip over the Keepers head, 1 - 0 up. Teigrod continued to search for further goals and chances were being created but they could not get the ball over the goal line and that's how it stayed until half time.
Teigrod had been in this position on their first game of the season 1 - 0 up so they knew one goal wasn't enough and after 7 minutes into the second half Lewis Jones unleashed a thunder shot just inside the 18 yard box which was too powerful for the Burry Port keeper and now it was 2 - 0. Teigrods defence had looked so strong throughout the game with Charlie and Jack winning all the aerial battles leaving Huw to assist Rhydian down the right.
For his second start of the season Shaun Jones linked up well with Lewis and created a few chances.
Luke Heath also made some very good saves and gave Teigrod some opportunities with his kicking. But then with only 43 minutes gone Burry Port responded with one of their six goals and this startled Teigrod.
Shortly after they conceded a second goal it was now time for a substitution and on came Cai Howes to replace Shaun Jones. Teigrod then calmed it down a bit but then the flood gates opened and it wasn't long before another four goals had been conceded it was now 6 - 2 with only five minutes remaining.
Teigrod tried to scrape themselves back in the game but it was too late.
Teigrod made a second sub bringing on Jack Poulson but it was too late in the game to expect 4 goals to be scored and finally the whistle was blown.
How easily it can go the other way as it did today, they worked hard, better luck next game.
Man Of The Match: Tommy Priestland (8)
Thanks to all supporters. Next match away to Pontlliw.
September 20th, Teigrod 6 - 0 Camford Sports
TIGERS UP THE TEMPO
They are getting stronger and more confident but not without a few scary moments, but overall they made it look like a stroll in the park. Rhun Jones opened up Teigrods onslaught with his first of three goals.
It didn't take long before the Teigrods were 2 - 0 up with a well taken goal from new signing Tommy Morgan. There was some good defending and Luke made some excellent saves but he was never really troubled throughout the game.
Teigrods again had a changed side yet their passing, vision and off the ball movement was very good. Lewis made some good runs and worked well with the midfield. Along came the next goal by hard working Tommy Priestland who was playing left back on Wednesday night and continued his hard work in midfield. Confidence was now running high and again with some good work down the right wing by Rhydian who helped to create Rhun's second and Teigrods fourth. Teigrod were now feeling comfortable and in quick succession, substitutes, Nathan Davies and Jack Poulson came on to help strengthen the squad. Shortly after Teigrod scored two more goals Sam Rhys with a delightful side foot and of course the Hat Trick boy Rhun Jones who thoroughly deserved his reward. On reflection of todays game and standard of football especially by the Teigrod, Camford at times played some nice football and could have possibly sneaked a goal but it wasn't to be, the defence saw to that. Well done lads keep going!
Players voted man of the match Rhun Jones (7)

September 17th, Teigrod 5 - 2 Ammanford
TIGERS FIGHT BACK
And didn't they do that in style, but that wasn't before Ammanford had shown what they can do with two nicely created goals and one nicely finished goal by Liam Danter.
Before the game started Teigrod had made a couple of changes to last weeks formation and introduced to the starting line was Shaun Jones. Shaun was playing up front along side his cousin Lewis Jones.
Teigrod showed good midfield play from Cai Davies and Rhun Jones who commanded the middle of the park feeding the ball from left to right to Sam Rhys and Rhydian Thomas. With Rhydian's pace he easily passed through Ammanfords defence creating many chances but Teigrod never quite found the back of the net.
With renewed vigour and passion Teigrod came back to the pitch for the second half. Within ten minutes Rhun opened the scoring for Teigrod after some superb individual skill. With the floodgates open Teigrod could do no wrong. The net was like a magnet to the ball and another goal quickly followed from Lewis with a nice right footed strike. With Teigrod now on level pegging, Ammanford did their best to take back control of the game.
The Teigrod defence was having none of it. with some superb defending from Huw Schofied, Jack McGready, Charlie Bleasdale and Tommy Priestland, Ammanford failed to get the ball past Luke Heath in goal.
Teigrod upped their play and with Cai Howes strengthening their attack three quick goals followed. Rhun scored his second, his midfield partner Cai scored the fourth and finally five minutes before the final whistle Sam Rhys got the fifth.
A very pleasing result for the whole team, who displayed some excellent football skills.
Thanks to Sott Jenkins for subbing.
Man of the match voted for by the players: Lewis Jones (9)
September 13th, Camford Rangers 2 - 1 Teigrod
This game does not reflect the score, it could have been game over for camford in the first half after teigrod bombarded the camford goal with an array of scoring opportunities but only came off after 30 minutes with a 1 - 0 lead, the football played leading up to the goal was exciting to watch with Cai, Rhun, Sam, Tomi and Rhyddian controlling the midfield. There were also defending to do and with Charlie and Jack taking charge in the central defence positions this allowed Huw and Iago to push further forward and around the twenty minute mark there were some good footwork by Lewis and after his shot came of the keeper it came to Sam Rhys who picked his spot and lofted a curling ball into the top right hand corner which gave them that first goal they thoroughly deserved and that remained the score until half time.
Teigrod came out the second half in the same spirit and with Camford making a few changes it was'nt long before they were starting to change the game and were gathering speed but some real gutsy defending held them at bay, but then from a corner the ball was defended and fell to a Camford player who's shot deflected over Luke, Teigrods keeper who up to this point had not put a foot wrong which then levelled the scores.
Game on, but shortly after Teigrod suffered there first injury to Lewis who left the field he was replaced by Scott who continued to pressure there defence and then out of the blue Camford struck again with one of there second half substitutions hit a twenty yard shot high above the keeper to make it 2 - 1 to Camford. The game restarted and again a second injury to Cai after clearly being brought down in the penalty by two Camford players and the ref failed to to blow the whistle, and at that point with only five minutes left Teigrods second sub Cai Howes came on and helped the last push at Camfords goal but with it being both teams first season there were some tired legs and Camford managed to hold on to the lead.
This was a very good example of childrens football and some good individual football was shown and todays man of the match was the Captain Cai Davies who for some time has played in the centre of defence but today he played in the midfield role and played with a lot of confidence and vision well done.Teigrods next Game is on Wednesday 17th against Ammanford 6.15 kick off
